Captain Ronald N. Lawrence Jr., chaplain at the Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson in Alaska, sends “Daily Encouragement” to men and women of the 673 Medical Group. He always includes the day’s entry from Strength for Service to God and Country in his email messages.

The joint base is key to defending U.S. interests in Asia and the Pacific.

After distributing copies of the historic book of daily devotions to the medical team, Lawrence says a group meets weekly to discuss the meditations.

“The manual is small enough to fit in the ABU (Airman Battle Uniform) cargo pocket,” says Lawrence. “This makes for much convenience when on the go.”
