NEWPORT, N.C.––In 2013 and 2014, UM Men of Core Creek United Methodist Church presented 100 copies of the Strength for Service to God and Community devotionals to four first-responder sites in Harlowe, Mill Creek and Beaufort on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Eastern North Carolina.

In addition to giving 25 copies of the book to each fire and rescue agency, the men presented the first responders with framed certificates of appreciation. The certificate quotes John 15.13, “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
