WAVERLY, TN – The Waverly First United Methodist Church Men were honored September 26, 2016 to host a picnic for the first responders of Humphreys County, Tennessee.  Mr. Richard Horner, president of the Waverly First United Methodist Men, welcomed the community servants.  A local Boy Scout Troop, sponsored by the Methodist Men, presented the colors and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.  After a delicious meal prepared by the United Methodist Men, Mr. Horner introduced Colonel Tracy Trott of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.  Colonel Trott gave an inspiring presentation and expressed his appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of the first responders.  Colonel Trott was accompanied by LTC John Albertson.

Following a brief film on the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 attack, The Rev. Thad Collier, pastor of the Waverly United Methodist Church, conducted a celebration of the first responders, and, along with the United Methodist Men, presented 100 copies of Strength for Service to God and Community devotionals to those present and their co-workers who were on duty and couldn’t attend.
