Dear friend of first responders,
Thank you for your continued support of these community servants through the Strength for Service ministry.
As a result of your generosity, we are able to rush free copies of Strength for Service to God and Community to fire fighters and police officers following distressing events.
Soon after the October killing of 11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, we sent two cases (104 books) to police officers who responded to the 911 call.
Two police officers and two SWAT team officers were among the six wounded at the house of worship in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood.
While the four officers have since recovered from their wounds, the emotional and spiritual damage will take much longer to heal. Also, no one is surprised to learn that officers who shepherded the wounded survivors to safety as the gunfire continued are showing signs of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Each officer now carries a copy of the Strength for Service devotional book in his glove compartment and it is a daily source of encouragement and spiritual sustenance.
Perhaps Police Week (May 12-18) or the International Firefighters’ Day (May 4) would be a good time for your church or community organization to provide Strength for Service books to a neighboring fire house or police station. Consider ordering a case (52 books) for $325 (a 52 percent discount) before the April 1 deadline.

Bullet-proof vests and oxygen masks can protect police officers and fire fighters from gunfire but neither protect damaged spirits. A book with stories of men and women who found ways to cope with routine struggles and frightening confrontations may provide the spiritual protection that only you can provide.
If you are unable to purchase a case, please consider a gift to provide shipping costs for books provided by others.
Gratefully yours,
