NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Strength for Service announces a partnership with Carry the Load’s 2019 memorial May relay. The Nashville-based nonprofit ministry is providing 5,000 books to veterans and first responders who are participating in the event.

Carry the Load’s annual event is a three-team 11,500-mile national relay handing off the American flag every five miles for 32 straight days. Books are being sent to participants in the:

  • 4,600-mile West Coast route from Seattle to Dallas, starting April 25
  • 3,000-mile East Coast route from Boston to Dallas, starting April 29
  • 3,900-mile Midwest route from Minneapolis to Dallas, starting May 3

The ministry is providing 2,500 copies of the books for first responders and 2,500 copies of the military books to Carry the Load participants. Books will also be available for participants in the final May 26-27 event in Dallas. This gathering will feature music, inspirational speeches, stories of fallen heroes, and flag ceremonies.

Larry Coppock, Executive Director for Strength for Service said, “Carry the Load’s mission and ministry is closely aligned with that of Strength for Service. We look forward to equipping them with Strength for Service devotional books in an effort to highlight the sacrifices that have been made by our nation’s military and first responders.”

Carry the Load was founded in 2011 by two veteran U.S. Navy SEALs who wanted to honor veterans and those who gave their lives for America. What started as a mission to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day has broadened to include more than just our military heroes and more than just the one holiday. Carry the Load works to bring all Americans together to participate in honoring our nation’s heroes.
